Paulinho, the 36-year-old former midfielder who retired this season, is expected to take on an executive role at the interior club, Mirassol. After weeks of discussions, an agreement was nearly finalized on Thursday, with the official announcement scheduled for next week.
Having played for Bragantino, Corinthians, Tottenham, Barcelona, and the Brazilian national team, Paulinho will now embark on his first venture into football management. He will serve as the liaison between players, coaching staff, and the club’s board.

Paulinho’s Initial Task
Paulinho’s initial task is to assist in the recruitment of a new head coach to replace Mozart, who has moved to Coritiba.
Management Courses
As a player, Paulinho pursued several courses in football management. One of these was a leadership and football management course offered by the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF).
Influence from Thiago Scuro
In late June, he traveled to Europe and spent two weeks with Thiago Scuro, the current CEO of Monaco in France. With a close relationship with Scuro, who is also involved in business ventures with Paulinho in Brazil, the former Red Bull Bragantino executive has been a significant influence on Paulinho’s understanding of sports management.
Farewell Match
Paulinho’s last act as a player will take place next month. His farewell match will be held on December 21 at 9:30 am (Brasília time) at Canindé Stadium in São Paulo, attended by both current and former teammates.
