As the 2024 Brazilian Championship’s Série A nears its conclusion, the battle at the bottom of the table is reaching crucial moments. With the final rounds approaching, Atlético-GO and Cuiabá have already been mathematically relegated. However, the struggle to avoid the last two relegation spots will be intense until the very end.

Atlético-GO
Atlético-GO was the first team confirmed for relegation to Série B in 2025, with three rounds to spare, following the conclusion of the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship. With only 26 points earned, the Goiás-based team languishes in 20th place on the table, having recorded six wins, eight draws, and 21 losses. The team scored 24 goals and conceded 53, marking a campaign characterized by struggles in all aspects of the game.
Cuiabá
Cuiabá’s relegation was also sealed in the 35th round, after a draw between Fluminense and Criciúma. With 30 points, even if they win their remaining three games, Cuiabá cannot escape the relegation zone due to tiebreaker criteria.
Who Was Promoted from Série B to Série A?
Amid ups and downs throughout the competition, Santos managed to stay among the top teams in most rounds of Série B. With a victory over Coritiba in the 36th round, the black and white team mathematically secured their promotion, and later, the championship title.
In the final round, Mirassol secured the second spot in Brazil’s elite football division by defeating Chapecoense 1-0. Shortly after, it was Sport’s turn to ensure their place by defeating the already crowned Santos 2-1 at Ilha do Retiro. The fight for the fourth spot was between Ceará and Novorizontino.
Ceará drew goalless away against Guarani and earned promotion thanks to Novorizontino’s 1-0 loss to Goiás, falling behind the Ceará team in goal difference.
